DIY DEO AT HOME

You've probably heard, that aluminum is used for a lot of deodorants. By now there are various alternatives but why don't you make your own one with only natural ingredients? I tried it out!

Common deos aren't so good for the environment. They have a lot of chemicals inside them, are packed in plastic and the spray versions even contain some detrimental gases.

But it is surprisingly easy to make one yourself. Most likely you have all ingredients at home.

You need coconut oil, cornstarch, sodium bicarbonate, one or several essential oils you like and a container of your choice.

Now you mix it together, taking 2 parts of coconut oil and 1 part of cornstarch and sodium bicarbonate each. Then you add the oil(s) you like. 3 to 4 drops are enough but if you like a more intense scent, you can also add some more.

I put the cream into a glass jar, which works fine but probably you prefer a flat metal box. I didn't have one at home, but if you have, you can use an empty Nivea cream tin or something similar. That's more convenient while traveling.

For applying, you just take some of the cream with your fingers and spread it under your armpits. I was extremely surprised by how good it works. It feels so smooth and soft and smells very pleasant. The deodorant is totally effective. After having done a workout, it still prevented me from any sweaty scents.

The only disadvantage is, that you need to wash your hands after using it, because they are a bit greasy, because of the coconut oil. But all together, I am a big fan of this self-made product and I will continue to use it. So give it a try too, it's worth it!
