I want to tell you about some really useful bathroom items I use, which are all very eco-friendly and helpful while traveling.
Well let's start with the most common one I think. The bamboo tooth brush. As you might guess by the name they are made out of bamboo except for the bristles. Bamboo is 100 % recyclable and regrows very fast. It's also naturally antibacterial and I think they look way better than ordinary plastic tooth brushes. The first one I bought had very soft bristles which I didn't like that much, so make sure you get one with your preferred strength. I always get them at DM (Germany) because there they only 2 Euros. But there are also a lot of other shops who sell them at a good price.
The next item I want to introduce to you is the solid shampoo bar. It looks like a piece of soap but it's made for your hair. You can rub it in your hands while you're showering and then put it on your head or soap up your hair with it directly. It is very good for the environment as it has a light wrapping instead of these massive bottles. This is really helpful while traveling. It even is much smaller and you can buy some aluminum boxes to stow it away. At home I'd recommend to hang it up in a breathable bag as it dries faster and therefore lasts longer.
The prizes vary a bit depending on the manufacturer but they are about the same range as "normal" shampoos. You need to test them out a bit to find the one that suits you best but it's the same for ordinary ones right? And there are even solid conditioner bars.
Probably my favourite product I want to show you is for women. I't s the menstrual cup. It is made out of 100 % medical silicone and if you maintain it properly it can last about ten years. You can insert it like a tampon and leave it there up to 12 hours. When you remove it you can just empty the content into your toilet and wash out the cup. It has so many benefits: you can leave it in over night and you'll be safe, you save up a lot of hygienic articles and therefore a lot of paper material. It costs between 20 CHF and 50 CHF but if you clean and store it well (sterilize it by boiling it in hot water after each period, keeping it at a dark place) it lasts so long, it will save you up a lot of money. Just make sure you buy the right size. Usually you can chose between S, M and L. I would really recommend you to start with the smallest as it is the easiest to handle and in the beginning it feels a bit weird so you'll be happy to have the light version. Like the other items it is really useful when you are traveling, as it is light and doesn't take a lot of space.
I hope I inspired you to try out some of these little helpers!
