Instead of buying new things, it is often worth looking for them in secondhand stores or on websites. It is not only much more sustainable, you might also find some really rare treasures.
Last year I decided, that I would buy my clothes only in secondhand stores for a year. On one hand I did it, because it is environmentally and ethically better as you don't support the consumption of recourses and poor working conditions of cheap brands. On the other hand I wanted to save some money.
I discovered a great website which is called "Kleiderkreisel". It is a German and Austrian platform, where you can buy and sell clothes. You can specifically search for certain criteria and easily communicate with sellers, if you have any questions.
They are always very nice and friendly and I have solely made good experiences. All these pieces you see on the picture, I found on Kleiderkreisel. If you are from Switzerland you can order it to your German mailbox or sometimes, if you ask, they will even send it to Switzerland.
Also other items, like travel equipment or furniture, can easily be found secondhand online. When I was looking for a couch for my new apartment, I found one for free really close to me. Like this, I also got two really cute little tables. All of these things are in a very good condition and the owner was happy, that they found a new home.
So it is a win-win situation.
I can only recommend everyone to check out some secondhand stores, before you buy something new, because you might find it even cheaper and you do something good for the environment. Our consumption has a great impact. So if you buy from big brands, you often support poor working conditions, very low salaries, the exploitation of recourses and a huge amount of emissions caused by the transport.
So save money and do something good for the planet and yourself.
